DENTAL STATUS OF PATIENTS WITH DIABETES TYPE 2 AND THE INFLUENCE OF HYPERGLYCEMIA ON THE STATE OF PERIODONTAL TISSUES
Abstract
The term "diabetes mellitus" describes a group of disorders characterized by elevated blood glucose levels and leading to various disorders of carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism. According to the World Health Organization, more than 425 million people suffer from this disease in the world, and most of them are patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Oral cavity reflects the overall health of the individual, and nowadays the problem of diagnostics and treatment of oral manifestations of systemic diseases is relevant.
