DIAGNOSIS, DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF SEPSIS IN PATIENTS IN A HOSPITAL EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
Abstract
Relevance: According to WHO, the number of patients diagnosed with sepsis per year exceeds 49 million cases, of which half are children. Sepsis kills 11 million people every year. Objective: To study the methods of diagnosis and treatment of sepsis in order to make an accurate diagnosis and provide first aid. Materials and methods: The basic concept of sepsis is that it is an acute life-threatening condition characterized by organ dysfunction due to dysregulation of the immune response to infection. The provoking infection is often bacterial, usually occurring in the respiratory, genitourinary, or gastrointestinal systems, and in the skin or soft tissues. Clinical signs include fever, tachycardia, confusion, and signs of primary infection. To facilitate early detection of sepsis, sepsis screening tools are used that include common clinical variables and laboratory parameters.
