ISSUES OF PEOPLE'S COUNSELORS INSTITUTE IN CRIMINAL CASES

In this article, from a scientific and practical standpoint, the author consider the institution of people's counselors, who are one of the important participants in the implementation of criminal justice in Uzbekistan. In particular, the role and tasks of this institution in the implementation of judicial activities, some negative situations in the work of the institute of people's assessors, and positive foreign experience in this area have been comprehensively studied. The article notes that this institution today is not able to adequately fulfill its functions of ensuring people's representation in judicial activities, and it is indicated that this situation is caused by some gaps and shortcomings in the legislation, not paying enough attention in practice to the selection, work and training of people assessors.
In the conclusion of article presents scientific and practical proposals and recommendations for increasing the authority and legal status of people's assessors, further regulating their activities.
