REFLECTION OF THE LINGUO-CULTUROLOGICAL APPROACH IN MANUALS FOR TEACHING ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE TO MEDICAL STUDENTS

This article is devoted to the problem of implementing the linguoculturological approach in the methodology of teaching English as a foreign language, in particular in teaching aids for medical students. At the beginning of the article, a brief historical overview of the various approaches to teaching English as a foreign language that have taken place in different eras is presented. The author describes in more detail the linguoculturological approach as relevant for learning at the present stage. The main part of the article is an analysis of a number of textbooks on teaching English as a foreign language to medical students in terms of the presence of a linguocultural component in them. Attention is drawn to the fact that most of the manuals are devoted purely to teaching the language of the specialty, and those manuals that present linguocultural content are aimed at teaching students directly at medical universities, and not at the initial stage of education. At the end of the article, it is concluded that it is necessary to develop a manual for teaching English as a foreign language to medical students at the initial stage of education, reflecting the linguoculturological approach.
