EPIC IMPLEMENTATION OF THE HISTORICAL IMAGE OF EDIGE IN THE EPOS "EDIGE"
Abstract
In the Karakalpak version of the Edige epic, there is a father Edige named Baba Tukli Shashly Aziz, who leads an ascetic life near the cemetery. He hides the clothes of one of the peri who flew in the guise of a dove, marries her. Due to non-fulfillment of the conditions set by the peri, Baba Tukli Aziz loses his wife, the peri. And the pregnant peri, flying away, says: “I have already become pregnant, you will find your child then, in such and such a place.” According to the Karakalpak version of the epic, this born peri and the child abandoned by her are discovered by a slave of a man named Toman Khodja. To be named after a foundling child, he is brought to the khan. Khan is surprised to see the clothes the child was wearing.
