Abstract

The picture of the world is a fundamental concept, which is a certain way structured information about objective reality in the minds of an individual and a collective, speaking the same language. Hence, it is implicitly present in the consciousness of a linguistic personality, reflecting a strictly structured system of knowledge and ideas acquired throughout an individual’s life. In essence, the picture of the world is a system of the individual’s ideas about reality at an intuitive level. In this article, linguaculturological peculiarities of toponomy in the Uzbek and English languages are presented based on the research results on this topic.
